During her tenure at AHVMA (Board member, Secretary, Vice President, President, Past President) of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association (AHVMA), Dr. Royal worked with the conventional veterinary directors at the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and with pre-vet and veterinary schools to create and incorporate avenues for training & research into the benefits and uses of an integrative veterinary approach to medicine.
Dr. Royal and the AHVMA Board of directors held a pivotal strategic planning retreat at her home in Michigan that created short & long term business plans based on re-imagining the vision/mission/goals of the AHVMA.
During these meetings, Dr. Royal coined the new tag line for the AHVMA – “The Leader, the Voice, the Resource for integrative veterinary medicine”
Because of her collaborative work and actions as President, the AHVMA has now become a Voting Member of the House of Delegates at the AVMA, and there are a growing number of veterinary schools that are opening integrative tracks, courses and clubs for vet students.
Dr. Royal was also President of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Foundation, (AHVMF) and was involved not only in fundraising, but encouraging humane research and education in integrative veterinary medicine.
The Royal Treatment Veterinary Center (RTVC) has contributed to the RTVC Student Scholarship Award for students interested in pursuing integrative medicine and needing funding for educational programs or conferences.
